It's all about Strings!
Above, the group 2Cellos plays an arrangement of a melody from a popular movie. The instruments that they are playing are electric cellos. In recent years, orchestral strings have started being adapted for groups other than symphony orchestras by creating electric instruments or a hybrid electric/acoustic instrument. Acoustic means that the instrument has no electronics inside of it, there is nothing to amplify the sound other than the instrument itself. An electric instrument has electronics in it that amplify and change the sound of the instrument.
